Our Story

A parlour built by people who love the game

Pachinko Luck Lounge opened at Crown Melbourne in 2016 with twelve secondhand machines and a hunch that Australia was ready for pachinko done properly. Today we're the country's largest dedicated pachinko venue — and we still argue about which machine is best.

How We Got Here

Nine years on the river

From a single rented room to a two-hall gaming lounge — the honest version, including the near-misses.

2016

Twelve machines and a lease

Founder Daniel Whitfield signs a small space inside Crown Melbourne and ships in a dozen refurbished hanemono units from Osaka. The opening weekend brings 400 curious locals.

2018

The izakaya is born

Guests kept asking for food, so we built a six-seat bar. It now seats 26 and serves until close — the kitchen became half the reason people stay.

2020

First VIP parlour opens

One soundproofed room, two premium machines, a dedicated host. Booked out three weeks ahead within a month — so we built five more.

2023

The Challenge Series launches

Saturday tournaments become a fixture — qualifying rounds, a live bracket and a champion's board that now has 41 names on it.

2025

Hall B opens

A second hall doubles the floor to 180 machines and adds the tournament arena, the coaching desk and a dedicated classics corner.

Today

14,000 members and counting

Australia's largest pachinko community — and still a place where the staff learn your name by your second visit.

The Manifesto

What a parlour should feel like

Most gaming venues are built around the machines. We built ours around the person sitting at one. That means real lighting, real chairs, a floor you can hear yourself think in, and staff who'd rather teach you the game than watch you lose quietly.

It means publishing our odds bands instead of hiding them, rotating machines before they get stale, and keeping a classics corner for the players who fell in love with mechanical pachinko decades ago.

And it means treating luck with respect. We can't sell you a win — nobody can — but we can sell you an evening where the game itself is worth the price of the balls.

遊びは、真剣に。

"Play, taken seriously." — the phrase painted inside our staff room in Osaka script. It's the whole business plan.

The People

Meet the floor team

Half our crew learned pachinko in Japan; the other half learned it here and now teach it better than we do.

About the Lounge

Common questions

Everything else lives on the full FAQ — including bookings, prizes and memberships.

The lounge is operated by Pachinko Luck Lounge Melbourne Pty Ltd, a Victorian company founded by Daniel Whitfield. We're fully independent — not part of the Crown casino operation, just proudly housed inside the Crown Melbourne complex.
Mechanically, yes — same machines, same physics, same thrill. Under Australian law we run a token-and-prize model rather than cash payouts, which means winnings are redeemed at our prize counter for goods and vouchers.
Our buying team visits Japan twice a year and tests every candidate unit on a shortlist. Machines make the floor based on play feel, reliability and feedback from member trial nights.
Fully. Session limits, self-exclusion and spending reminders are available at the host desk, and every team member is trained in responsible-service obligations. Read our legal notice for the details.
We hire hosts, technicians and kitchen staff throughout the year. Send your details through the contact page with "Careers" in the subject and we'll keep you in the loop.

Come see it in person
